what you need to make FLOPPY SUN HAT

  • Dollar Tree Sun Hat
  • Black Sharpie Marker
  • SVG or Stencil of your choice
  • Black Ribbon
  • Bling Embellishment

how to DECORATE A floppy SUN HAT

First remove the fabric from the sun hat. Apply your stencil and fill in the lines with a black Sharpie. Go over it several times to get into all of the basket type weave material of the sun hat.

Next, wrap a black ribbon around the brim of the sun hat and adhere with a small amount of hot glue to keep it in place.

Finally add an embellishment of your choice. I used a rhinestone piece of jewelry with an easy to use clasp. It really sets the entire sun hat off to use the embellishment.

adding bling to a sun hat

Hang the straw sun hat wherever you want to add a statement piece. I added mine to the back porch wall where I already had a collection of sun hats started.

I LOVE this idea! It’s simple enough that even I can make it. I think I’ll hit glue a pop can tab on the back to hang the hat outside in my covered patio wood bbq area.
