how to use silver leaf on a simple wooden dough bowl

  1. Dip a super small amount of gilding size to a chip brush and only apply in the areas you wish to for the foil to adhere.brushing on gilding size
  2. Let the size “come to tack” or dry for about 5 mins to get tacky instead of just wet.
  3. Carefully open the silver leaf and separate the divider sheets to gently remove a single sheet of foil.silver leaf foil
  4. Lay the silver foil over the area that was prepared with the size medium.applying silver leaf to wooden dough bowl
  5. Tap it down gently, brushing off any excess.
  6. Remove from any areas you do not want coverage by scraping it away.
  7. Add to any areas missed by applying another sheet of foil.

Materials

  • 1 heart shaped wooden dough bowl
  • 1 gilding size medium
  • 1 silver leaf foil
  • 1 chip brush

Instructions

      You definitely can and should if you plan to put something inside the container.
