This peanut butter bread recipe was actually inspired by a 1932 cookbook recipe that used basic pantry ingredients. It also became internet famous during quarantine.

Peanut butter actually replaces the need for both eggs and butter (both of which were hard to come by during the Great Depression), hence the name Depression Peanut Butter Bread came about.

After one hour poke the center of the bread with a toothpick to test for doneness.

If the toothpick comes out clean, the bread is ready. If it has batter or crumbs clinging to it, allow the bread to bake for an additional 15 minutes.

Step 6.

Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 15 minutes.
