Let me show you how to make a super cute Dollar Tree Gift Bag DIY Patriotic Bunting. It’s so easy to make, and inexpensive too, with just a few supplies. Perfect for the Fourth of July, or a summer party. You can make several to hang outside, or drape it across a mantel for an instant touch of patriotic decor!

There’s something about decorating for the 4th of July that is just so fun, and this sweet patriotic bunting is the perfect example. You know I love quick and easy crafts and this one checks all the boxes. So let’s get to the simple DIY tutorial so you can make your own, in plenty of time to celebrate all things red, white and blue!
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO MAKE a Dollar Tree Gift Bag DIY patriotic bunting
- Dollar Tree Gift Bags – Blue
- Red & White Striped Straws
- Red & White Gingham Ribbon
- Hot Glue Gun
- Scissors
HOW TO MAKE A Dollar Tree Gift Bag DIY patriotic bunting
Start by adding hot glue down the center and bottom of the gift bag as shown. Place a second bag on top facing the same direction as the last.
Repeat until all five gift bags are glued together. You want to create a fan shape with the gift bags.

Once all the bags are glued together, as an added pop of color glue a straw into the crease of each bag as shown.
NEXT…
Continue to make as many of the little buntings as you like. I made three. To attach them together, cut a piece of ribbon long enough for the bunting, leaving space in between each one. Secure with hot glue. You can already see how cute this is going to be!

Now all that’s left is to unfold the bunting and hang it wherever you want to add a little touch of patriotic decor.
I chose to hang it just underneath my mantel and love how it looks. So what do you think? Isn’t it just darling? Think of the fun ways you can decorate with it. You could also switch it out and use red gift bags with blue striped straws, or even white bags.

- Dollar Tree Gift Bags
- Red & White Striped Straws
- Red & White Gingham Ribbon
Instructions
- Add hot glue to the center and bottom of each of the 5 gift bags.
- Hot glue each bag together placing a straw in the side fold of each gift bag.
- Repeat this process for each bunting.
- Cut a piece of ribbon long enough to attach each bunting with hot glue.
- Hang your pretty patriotic bunting and enjoy!
