We are all Wonder Woman – Powerful Memories

Growing up in the seventies one of my favorite tv shows was Wonder Woman. Even though there were only about 3-4 shows to choose from at any given time compared to today; I still like to think I would have chosen to love this one.  There is just something mesmerizing about the way she could change from an average working woman to a super hero just by taking her hair down, pulling her glasses off and spinning around in a circle. I would spend hours watching the silly storyline just to get to that part where the music cued her big change and she would rush to the rescue of the innocent and force the villain to talk with her magical lasso.  Her amazing bullet dodging cuff links and boomerang headband weren’t all that shabby either!

we are all wonder woman

Even when we feel like the world is spinning out of our control; there is always one thing we control which is our mind. We choose how we want to think about all the things going on around us. One of the most awesome super powers we have is our memories. Memories of good times with friends and family.

last year’s costume

Total aside… last year for Halloween I dress up as a “Crafty Nun”.  It was so much fun.  If you missed it, you can see it HERE.

this year’s costume

I decided to go back to my roots this year and slap on my best Wonder Woman attempt at a costume in an effort to have some fun and enjoy the evening with you. If you missed it, you can see it HERE below.

memories made

My obsession with female super heroes even had me dressing up my daughter as Super Girl at a young age.  I’m not sure the two are even related, but there’s just something about putting on a cape that makes anything possible. I always teach my kids that anything is possible if you put your mind and energy to doing it. Isn’t she the cutest?  I dug up this picture for you… who am I kidding? Facebook served it up to me as a “fun memory.”

Berklie as Super Girl

Everything is totally different this year. My daughter and a few of her close friends decided to make a “Ghouls Breakfast” on Halloween morning.  They put on their matchy matchy pj’s and made toast, eggs and even bacon! I offered to make them some of my favorite Banana Nut Pancakes; but alas, I was not allowed in the kitchen. They giggled (yes, teenagers giggle), watched scary movies and best of all they made wonderful memories to last a lifetime.

You are wonder woman

This year has not been so kind.  So many things changing out of our control. It has been a bit of a struggle to adjust.  It’s kind of like the virus has been the villain in our story. We can use the lasso of truth to remind ourselves that there is hope for a better day, a better future. The bullet proof cuffs can be used to keep away negative thoughts of sadness and loneliness. And the boomerang headband is great for retrieving those amazing memories made with friends and family that no virus can ever steal from us. These are our super powers. I hope you know that I think we are all Wonder Women!

  1. Wonderful story, I believe that too! The virus has stolen enough! So now it’s time to move on. Whatever will be will be, and we need to Thank God for the many other things he has given us! Thank you Dear Lord and keep everyone and our Country and President safe 🙏🙏

  2. I’m so glad I found you via The Blogger Genius Podcast. Your post is exactly what I needed to hear today! I feel the same way about Lynda Carter’s Wonder Woman she is pure strength and hope. And we all need a bit of that right now.
