HOW TO MAKE Swaddle Blanket scented Sachets

Start by opening up the white swaddle blankets and cutting a piece about 6×12″ with fabric scissors. Lay the white piece on top of the floral swaddle blanket, to use it as a template, and cut it just about 1″ larger.

We are going to make this a no-sew project, but you can certainly sew it if you want. You can also use fabric glue, but I am going with my handy dandy hot glue gun.

Let’s start with the white swaddle blanket piece. Lay it out on a silicone mat, as the material is thin. This will protect your table. Add hot glue about 1/4″ from the edge and fold the blanket in half.

Try to put the hemmed edges to the outside, so it is more finished. Now repeat this same process on the opposite side so you have a little bag.

Flip it inside out so it is nice and finished. Just push out the corners to even it out. Next, take the floral swaddle and place it right side up. Repeat the same process as you did with the white blanket. This will be just a little bit larger than the white blanket. Gently poke out the corners.

The white bag will fit inside the floral bag perfectly! Aren’t these so cute?

NEXT…

Now it’s time to add the fragrant scented sachets to the bag. You can totally make your own fragrance if you like. But, this is what makes this craft semi-homemade. It definitely saves time. Cut the sachet at an angle and pour it into the white bag. I recommend adding some rice to the bag too as there is not enough in one package to fill the bag.

Now it’s time to seal the bag. I simply used my hot glue gun, but again you can also use fabric glue. Be sure to press down on the bag to seal it. You don’t want any of the beads to fall out. My favorite part is decorating these sweet bags. Because the floral bag is so pretty you don’t need much.

adding ribbon to sachets

Place the filled white bag into the floral bag and tuck it in, so it has a finished edge. Then just hot glue it closed. Push the corners closed so it is nice and secure. Give the bag a little shake so it spreads out the filling. Isn’t it so cute already?

All that’s left now is to add a pretty ribbon around the sachet. I went with an orange buffalo plaid, but green would work well too. Make a simple shoe string bow with a longer tail. Hot glue the ribbon to the center of the sachet. You know I have to have a little bling. A little hot glue is all it needs and now your beautiful semi-handmade sachet is ready!

This was such a simple craft, but it makes a fun little gift for mom. You could even add a little gift card under the ribbon if you wanted. There are lots of ideas. These pre-made sachets are very strong, so you may want to make your own depending on how strong you want the scent to be.

THAT’S IT!

There are so many ways to use these sachets. They can be placed in a linen closet, or your bureau for a nice fragrance. What about making these little sachets as wedding favors? You could even just add rice for the guests to throw as the bride and groom leave the wedding. Isn’t that a fun idea? Let me know if you give it a try!
