  • 1.85oz packet instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 2 tsp pumpkin pie spice
  • 29oz canned pumpkin (not pumpkin pie filling)
  • 8oz tub whipped topping

How to Make Pumpkin Pie Fluff Dip

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine pudding mix and pumpkin pie spice.

  • Stir to combine with a rubber spatula.
  • Add canned pumpkin.

  • Using a hand mixer, beat on medium speed for 30-45 seconds until combined.

  • Scrape down the sides and bottom with the rubber spatula to assure everything is mixed together.
  • Add whipped topping and beat on low until completely combined.

  • Refrigerate for at least an hour or overnight, covered, until ready to serve.

Can I use individual spices instead of pumpkin pie spice?

Yes, you absolutely can use a combination of cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, allspice, and ginger. Use more or less of whichever spices you like best.

Can I use fresh pumpkin to make this pumpkin dip?

Fresh pumpkin can be used instead of canned pumpkin though the process to make the dip will be much more time consuming. Cook fresh pumpkin and puree it so it becomes smooth and lump free. You can follow the directions from there. Note fresh pumpkin does taste different from canned so the end result may be different.

What can I substitute for canned pumpkin?

If you can’t find canned pumpkin and are not up for the taste of using fresh pumpkin you can also use mashed sweet potatoes or butternut squash.

Is canned pumpkin and pumpkin pie filling the same thing?

No canned pumpkin is just pureed pumpkin while pumpkin pie filling has other ingredients already added. Read the labels carefully to make sure you are using pureed pumpkin.

Do I need to add sweetener to this pumpkin dip?

This recipe does not call for adding any sweetener. The rich creamy tastes comes from the natural sweetness of the pumpkin, the vanilla pudding and the combination of spices.

What can I do with leftover dip?

If you happen to have leftover dip you can use it as a spread for sandwiches or wraps. The dip can also be used as a topping for pancakes or waffles in place of maple syrup.
