Supplies You'll Need

  • Dollar Tree Nautical Rope
  • Dollar Tree Jute Rope
  • Hot Glue Gun & Glue Sticks
  • Scissors
  • Cardboard or Wooden Bases
  • Burlap
  • Embroidery Hoop
  • Mop Head
  • Twine
  • Decorative Buttons
  • Starfish
  • Wood Beads
  • Ribbon
  • Zip Ties
  • Butterfly Embellishment (optional)

1. DIY Coastal Rope Flag

This nautical-inspired flag is such a fun way to decorate for summer!

I created alternating stripes using Dollar Tree nautical rope and jute rope, then finished the top corner with a starfish and oyster-colored buttons instead of traditional stars.

Don't have the same flag base that I used?

No problem! Simply cut a rectangle from sturdy cardboard and build your design from there.

This project would look beautiful:

  • On a shelf
  • In a tiered tray
  • On an entry table
  • As part of a summer centerpiece

Helpful Tip

You'll definitely want a sharp pair of scissors for this project. Dollar Tree rope is much thicker than it looks and cuts much cleaner with heavy-duty scissors.

2. Braided Nautical Rope Wreath

If you love coastal decor, this wreath is for you.

Instead of wrapping rope around a wreath form like most tutorials, I braided strands of Dollar Tree nautical rope and jute rope together to create a unique textured design.

After attaching everything to my wreath base, I finished it with:

  • A simple burlap bow
  • Oyster shell-style buttons
  • Decorative pearl button center

The finished wreath has beautiful dimension while still keeping that relaxed coastal charm.

Decorating Tip

Don't be afraid to customize this wreath with seashells, starfish, driftwood, greenery, or seasonal ribbon to match your home.

3. Dollar Tree Mop Head Boho Leaf

Believe it or not…

This gorgeous boho leaf started as a Dollar Tree cotton mop head!

Using a simple knotting technique and a cardboard template, I transformed ordinary mop strings into a beautiful macrame-inspired leaf wall hanging.

Once everything was assembled, I brushed out the fibers, trimmed the shape, and added a string of wood beads for the perfect finishing touch.

This project is beginner-friendly and a great introduction to simple macrame-style knotting without needing expensive cord.

It looks beautiful:

  • Hanging from a cabinet knob
  • On a tray
  • Layered on a shelf
  • As part of a gallery wall

4. DIY Boho Embroidery Hoop Wall Hanging

This project combines several of my favorite Dollar Tree supplies into one beautiful piece of wall decor.

I started with burlap stretched inside an embroidery hoop before layering:

  • A vintage-style doily
  • Dollar Tree nautical rope
  • A shower curtain ring wrapped in jute
  • A thrifted butterfly
  • Rope fringe for texture

The combination creates a gorgeous boho-inspired wall hanging that works from spring all the way through summer.

One of my favorite details is the frayed rope fringe. It gives the entire piece softness and movement while adding plenty of texture.

Make It Your Own

Instead of a butterfly, try adding:

  • Wooden flowers
  • Seashells
  • Greenery
  • Family monograms
  • Initials
  • Seasonal florals

The possibilities are endless.

Decorating Ideas for Rope Crafts

One of the things I love most about rope crafts is how versatile they are.

These DIYs fit beautifully into:

  • Coastal homes
  • Farmhouse decor
  • Cottage style
  • Lake house decorating
  • Beach-inspired spaces
  • Boho interiors

Mix them with wood beads, galvanized metal, wicker baskets, candles, and greenery for a layered designer look.

Why I Love Crafting with Dollar Tree Rope

Dollar Tree nautical rope is one of the best craft supplies you can buy because it's:

  • Budget-friendly
  • Durable
  • Easy to work with
  • Great for beginner crafters
  • Perfect for coastal and farmhouse styles
  • Surprisingly versatile

With just a few rolls of rope, you can create wreaths, wall art, trays, baskets, centerpieces, signs, and so much more.

I can't wait to hear which project you're going to make first!
