As someone who has never struggled to fall asleep, I wasn’t sure if I would need all of the features of a white noise sound machine. However, that all changed after I got my hands on it, and here are my thoughts along with my honest review of the Hatch Restore White Noise Sound Machine.

My Review of Hatch Restore White Noise Sound Machine
First of all, I was impressed by the sleek and modern design of the machine. It looks great on my nightstand and doesn’t take up too much space.
Be sure to PIN this for later!
And no, I don’t live like this. I cleared my nightstand off for these photos so that the Hatch Restore could be the star of the show!
The controls are easy to use and there is an app to download for even easier adjustments of both the lights and sounds.
To my delight, I quickly realized that it is more than a white noise machine. It serves as a bedside lamp in the middle of the night, a smart lamp with tons of options, a meditation assistant, and a Hatch sunrise alarm clock of course to help you fall asleep!
Once you download the Hatch sleep app, follow the instructions on pairing it to the sound machine and then personalizing your sound and light choices to create your custom sunrise alarm clock.
Hatch Restore Sound Machine Lights
There are so many colors to choose from for light which makes it fun to play around with.
The main reason I purchased this machine was to be able to wake up by smart light instead of noise. This enables me to wake up super early without disturbing anyone else.
The soft glow reading light I use during my “wind down” time also helps me to fall asleep faster.
There are several choices of lighting for the sunrise alarm feature; Conquering Fuji, Spring Sunrise, Portland Lighthouse, Morning in Prague, Hiking in the Dawn, Nordic Sunrise, Morning Stroll, Tropical Morning, and Sunrise of a Flower Orchard to name a few, but my personal favorite morning alarm is the Malibu Sunrise alarm which is gradual lighting over 30 minutes that takes my bedroom from complete darkness to a subtle and beautiful sunny sky.
Another great smart light feature, which is the one I use, is the ability to wake to light only to gently wake me up without any alarm noise sounds as well as dimming of the clock light as seen below. It definitely puts me in a better mood each morning upon waking.
Hatch Restore White Noise Sounds
If you do want sounds as part of your nighttime routine or to wake you up in the morning, Hatch Restore has you covered! There are a total of 9 different free sound options, ranging from white noise to natural sounds like waves, rain, and birds.
As far as sounds go, the Hatch Restore sound machine has several free choices included; such as a dishwasher whirring gently in the background, an evening campfire crackling, a calm ocean, the traditional fan, and my personal favorite light rain.
There is also the option to upgrade within the Hatch app to a hatch sleep membership for even more soothing sounds; including guided rest exercises with a smart sleep assistant designed to whisk you off to sleep an stay asleep, sleep stories, cozy field recordings like thunder train, and guitar horizons along with dreamy, soothing music.
Another great feature of this machine is the option to set a timer or use the continuous play function. I like to set it for 30 minutes and then let it turn off on its own after I’ve fallen asleep.
Overall, I am extremely happy with my purchase of the Hatch Restore Alarm Clock Sound Machine. It has made a significant difference in my sleep wake routine and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a good quality white noise machine.
Additionally, I found it very convenient that I could purchase the Hatch Restore Sound Machine on Amazon, which made the purchasing process quick and easy. I’m sharing my affiliate link with you below for your convenience.
Many people struggle with getting a good night’s sleep, and it can have a significant impact on their overall health and well-being. There are so many solutions to choose from, but I found that simply getting into a good 30-minute “before I go to bed” routine helps. There is something about winding down without your phone and all the chaos on it that makes a huge difference.
This is my “get ready for bed” routine:
10:00 pm I have an alert on my phone to remind me to start winding down. You can make this time work for you, this is just the time that works best for me.
10:15 pm Time to wrap up whatever else I’m doing; watching a Netflix show, working on the computer, or cleaning in the kitchen.
10:20 pm Wash my makeup off, brush my teeth, and put on cozy pajamas! Ahh!
10:30 pm Tell my adult daughter good night, find out what time she works the next day, pet the dog, turn off lights, and check all the locked doors.
10:45 pm Lay down and turn on the background white noise with auto-shutoff on my new Hatch sound machine and think about the day and tomorrow. (I use the turquoise light and light rain settings on the Hatch)
11:00 pm Asleep.
Of course, life happens, and the start time on this routine can vary depending on the happenings of the day; however, the actual “routine” rarely does.

What is white noise and why do people use it?
White noise is a type of noise that contains all audible frequencies in equal amounts, resulting in a steady, consistent sound. It’s often described as a “shh” sound or the sound of a static radio. People use white noise to create a soothing, calming environment that can help them sleep or focus.
White noise can be helpful in drowning out other distracting noises, such as traffic or a neighbor’s barking dog. It can also help to regulate a person’s sleep patterns by masking sudden noises that could interrupt sleep. Additionally, white noise has been shown to have a relaxing effect on the body, which can help to reduce stress and promote better sleep.
Overall, white noise is a simple and effective tool for improving sleep and creating a more calming environment. It’s no wonder that white noise machines have become increasingly popular in recent years.

What is brown noise?
When I was researching this purchase, I kept seeing brown noise and it got me curious to find out what it is. So here ya go!
Brown noise, also known as Brownian noise or red noise, is a type of noise that has a deeper, lower frequency sound than white noise. It’s named after the mathematician Robert Brown, who observed similar random motions of particles in water.
Brown noise is created by amplifying lower-frequency sounds, making it sound like a deep rumble or the sound of a distant thunderstorm. It has a softer and more soothing sound than white noise, and can be helpful for promoting relaxation and deeper sleep.
Like white noise, brown noise can be produced by specialized machines or apps and is often used in therapy and relaxation techniques. Some people find brown noise to be more effective than white noise for masking external sounds and promoting a more peaceful sleep environment.
Ultimately, the most popular white noise sound will vary from person to person, depending on their individual preferences and needs. Some people may prefer a basic white noise sound, while others may find more relaxation from nature sounds or deeper brown noise. Happy Relaxing my friend!
