1. DIY Patriotic Tumbling Block Cross
This simple wooden cross is one of my favorite projects from today's collection.
Using only ten tumbling blocks painted in patriotic colors, you can create a beautiful shelf sitter that looks wonderful displayed with your other seasonal decor. I finished mine with painted white star stickers, but you could also use glitter stars, wood stars, or tiny metal embellishments.

This little cross is perfect for:
- Memorial Day decorating
- Fourth of July displays
- Veterans Day decor
- Thoughtful handmade gifts
Pro Tip
Paint all of your blocks before assembling them and keep baby wipes nearby to clean your hands between colors. It'll save you from accidentally getting red paint on your white blocks!
2. DIY Uncle Sam Hat Shelf Sitter
This adorable Uncle Sam hat is another project made with only ten tumbling blocks.
After painting the blocks red, white, and blue, simply glue them together into the classic Uncle Sam hat shape. Add a row of white stars across the brim, or personalize it with ribbon or a small bow.

This project looks adorable:
- On a bookshelf
- On a coffee bar
- Inside a patriotic tiered tray
- Sitting on a stack of vintage books
It's quick, inexpensive, and makes a huge decorating impact.
3. Patriotic Tumbling Block Decorative Frame
This may be my favorite project because it started simple…and then I just couldn't stop adding details!
The frame itself is made from fourteen tumbling blocks, but I layered ribbon, a decorative bow, half wood beads, rick rack trim, and a little bling until it became a one-of-a-kind patriotic accent piece.
One thing I love about this project is that you can completely customize it.

You could stop with just the wood frame…
Or keep layering embellishments until it's exactly your style.
Helpful Tip
Allow your tumbling blocks to dry completely before adding ribbon across the frame. Giving the glue extra time to cure will help keep everything sturdy while decorating.
4. DIY Red Solo Cup Holder
If you're hosting backyard barbecues this summer, this project might become your favorite.
Using twelve tumbling blocks and one small wooden cube spacer, you can create a reusable cup holder that keeps everyone's drink organized.
I tied a Sharpie marker to the side with jute twine so guests can write their names directly on their cups.

No more asking:
- “Whose drink is this?”
- “Is this mine?”
- “Where's a marker?”
It's practical, inexpensive, and perfect for summer entertaining.
Decorating Tips
These tumbling block projects are small enough to fit almost anywhere around your home.
Try displaying them:
- On a coffee bar
- On a bookshelf
- Inside a tiered tray
- On your kitchen island
- In an entryway vignette
- On a mantel
- As part of a holiday centerpiece
Because they're lightweight, they're also easy to store and reuse year after year.
