How to Turn an Old Mirror into a Modern Gold Mirror the Easy Way

Gold mirrors are super popular right now, but they can be expensive to buy new. Luckily, you can easily DIY your own gold mirror using Rust-Oleum Imagine Soft Gold spray paint! This quick and easy project is a great way to add a touch of luxury to your home without spending a lot of money.

Equipment

Materials

  • old mirror
  • wooden appliques
  • painter's tape
  • E6000 glue
  • drop cloth or newspaper
  • Rust-Oleum Craft & Hobby Imagine Spray Paint in the NEW color Chrome Soft Gold

Instructions

  • Start by giving your old mirror a good cleaning. Make sure to remove any dirt or dust so that the paint will adhere properly.
  • Flip your mirror over and check to see if it can be removed from the mirror frame. If it can be removed, this is best.
  • Using a mini screwdriver, unscrew the back of the mirror frame and carefully remove the mirror from the frame. Set aside.
  • Using a combination of hot glue and E6000 adhere your wood appliques or onlays to the corner of the mirror in the design that you desire. (you can also use wood glue for this step but your drying time will be longer)
  • Spray paint the mirror frame with the Rust-Oleum Imagine Spray Paint and let dry. (See Spray Painting Tips below)
  • Flip the mirror over and spray paint the back of the wood appliques as they will be showing in the reflection of the mirror. Let dry.
  • Hang your mirror in place. I put mine in my entryway!
